Fray Gabriel

by Fray Gabriel Chvez de la Mora

Fray Gabriel is a thin, informal handwritten face with a naive, slightly unsteady quality that feels genuinely personal rather than designed. The light strokes and simple letterforms have a childlike directness to them, as if jotted down without much concern for consistency. It works well for invitations, personal projects, or anywhere you want type that feels human and unguarded. The font is named after its creator, Fray Gabriel Chávez de la Mora, a Benedictine monk and architect known for his work in Mexican liturgical art.
