Licensing Trust
FontToolbox is built for fast font discovery, with licensing clarity as a confidence layer.
What license labels mean
Fonts include a license label based on known license families (such as OFL, MIT, Apache, GPL, proprietary, and unknown).
These labels are intended to make browsing easier and reduce ambiguity when comparing options.
What “Verified” means
A verified license status indicates high confidence in the current classification based on extracted license evidence and review workflows.
Some fonts remain unverified while evidence is incomplete. In those cases, you should review source license materials directly.
What “Commercial use OK” means
This label is a quick filter for licenses that are generally suitable for commercial use when verified.
It is still your responsibility to confirm terms that apply to your specific project and distribution model.
Community reporting
If you spot a possible license mismatch, use the “Flag license” option on the font page. Reports are reviewed in an admin queue.
This process helps keep records accurate and supports responsible use of creators' work.
Important note
License labels and verification are high-confidence guidance, not legal advice.
For sensitive or high-risk use cases, review official license text and consult counsel when needed.
