1454 Gutenberg Bibel
by John H. Schmidt · Website
1454 Gutenberg Bibel is a heavy blackletter face by John H. Schmidt modeled after the typeface used in Gutenberg's 42-line Bible, widely considered the first major book printed with movable type in the West. The dense, angular strokes and ornamental detailing faithfully capture the textura style of 15th-century German printing, with all its dark, tightly packed verticality. Best reserved for headlines, drop caps, and historical or ecclesiastical design where the weight and formality of medieval letterforms are the whole point.
