1454 Gutenberg Bibel is a heavy blackletter face by John H. Schmidt modeled after the typeface used in Gutenberg's 42-line Bible, widely considered the first major book printed with movable type in the West. The dense, angular strokes and ornamental detailing faithfully capture the textura style of 15th-century German printing, with all its dark, tightly packed verticality.
