Bastarda K

by Manfred Klein · Website

Bastarda K is a bold blackletter face by Manfred Klein rooted in the Bastarda tradition, a hybrid Gothic script that emerged in the late Middle Ages across German and Central European manuscripts. The letterforms carry the angular fractures and dense vertical rhythm of classic Fraktur while retaining some of the softer, more calligraphic curves that distinguish Bastarda from its more rigid cousins. Best reserved for headlines, titles, and decorative use where its heavy medieval character can read clearly.
