Bruta

by ingoFonts · Website

Bruta is a woodcut typeface literally carved by hand into beechwood rods on New Year's Eve 2014 by Ingo Zimmermann, then digitized from the printed negative. The uppercase characters show Roman-style contrast between thick stems and fine strokes, while the lowercase leans toward a roughed-up sans-serif quality that becomes more legible at smaller sizes. It carries the kind of honest, uneven texture that no filter can fake.
