Café-concert
by Yves Michel
Café-concert is a bold Art Nouveau display face drawn from a 19th-century penmanship manual, the Zanerian Manual of Alphabets and Engrossing. Its thick strokes swell and taper with organic drama, terminals curl and flare in the manner of ironwork and poster lettering from the Belle Époque. The whole design breathes the atmosphere of a French café-concert around 1900.
