El Volcan
by Fabio Ares · Website
El Volcan is a bold geometric monospace sans inspired by the hand-cut metal ranch signs produced by the metallurgical workshop El Volcán in Tandil, Buenos Aires Province. Designed by Fabio Ares from research by Octavio Osores, it preserves the raw, utilitarian character of its source material: uniform stroke weight, squared terminals, and a rigid grid-based rhythm. It carries real historical grounding, which gives it an authenticity that purely invented retro fonts rarely achieve.
