Federal is a bold slab-serif typewriter face with heavy, even strokes and that unmistakable monospaced rhythm of mechanical type. The letterforms carry a vintage authority, dense and solid, like something stamped onto government paperwork or mid-century official documents. Best at headline sizes where its weight and retro character come through, though it holds up well enough for short blocks of text when you want that old institutional feel.
