Gance is a bold display serif built around a layered chromatic effect, with a white inline highlight cutting through heavy stems and a cast shadow giving each letter convincing three-dimensional depth. The design draws on Victorian sign-painting and 19th-century chromolithography, where letters were printed in multiple passes to achieve this kind of metallic, embossed presence. It commands attention at large sizes and carries a strong vintage showmanship quality.
