Josef is a condensed humanist sans from German type designer Ingo Zimmermann, built around open oval counters and narrow, functionally shaped letters. A handful of characters carry subtle semi-serif echoes on their terminals, adding a quiet calligraphic undercurrent that separates it from a standard grotesque. The triangular uppercase letters use a distinctive beam-stacking construction that gives the typeface a grounded, structural character.
