The Art of Illuminating is a heavy blackletter face by Staffan Vilcans that draws directly from the dense, angular textura scripts found in medieval manuscripts. The letterforms are richly ornamental, with the thick vertical strokes and tight spacing characteristic of Gothic calligraphy at its most formal. Best reserved for headlines, drop caps, and decorative use where the historic weight of the style can speak for itself.
