Calvino is a garalde serif designed by Andrea Tartarelli, inspired by the six literary virtues that Italian author Italo Calvino outlined for the coming millennium. Its 16th-century humanist roots show in the calligraphic axis, bracketed serifs, and warmly controlled stroke contrast, following the tradition of Gudrun Zapf. The result sits comfortably across both extended text setting and refined display use.
